This is total grammar nerd of me, but I learned the difference between acronyms and initialisms. An acronym is what you described here: SLUT. You say it as a word. An initialism is like FBI, where you tend to say the letters. Also, an initialism tends to have an article in front, like the FBI. Although, if one used the article in front of SLUT..."hey dude, are you gonna ride the SLUT?" HAHAHAHA.
